Fashion, Art, Design School is a creative, experiential program that provides an opportunity for students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 to explore the complex and detailed world of fashion design and garment construction. In this one semester program, students will learn how to draw fashion illustrations, create design boards, draft and alter patterns, create a garment collection and produce a fashion show.
Throughout the semester, students will learn different types of art that may include: felting, knitting, embroidery, silk painting, screen printing, pottery, sculpture, painting. Students have the opportunity to collaborate with one another while exploring the creative process.
By the end of this course, students will be able to use industrial and/or domestic sewing machines, gain an understanding of both pattern cutting and garment construction, develop design skills and knowledge of textile fabrics. While incorporating the elements and principles of design, they will produce their own unique body of work suitable for a post secondary application.
Students completing this course will receive 16 credits towards graduation. This experiential program gives students the opportunity to receive 4 extra credits per semester.
